Local Loop and alignment

T his morning first thing I checked my front alignment as one of the gentleman that rode my trike on Saturday said that the steering felt heavy. I hadn't noticed any thing, but I thought I should check. Everything was spot on and if anything is was less than 1/32" off. A fter the alignment I headed out for my ride and was battling the wind right from the start. I rode 15.72 miles in 1hr 11min at an average speed of 13.3 mph and a max speed of 21.4 mph. I burnt 728 calories and my average heart rate was141bpm.

MARS Ride

Image
A bunch of members from the MARS group met for a ride from Lambertivlle to Frenchtown a distance back and forth of 30.58 miles. The ride was quick paced and lots of pleasant company. All the riders were on recumbent bikes and I was the only trike in the group and I feel good that I was able to keep up most of the time. My average speed was 13.9 mph and my max speed was 20.10 mph. I burnt 1,733 calories and my average heart rate was 137 bpm. Total elevation gain was 1,139 feet.

Fantastic Ride

T his morning after playing with computer network problems I headed out for a ride. Yesterday was a wash do to rain and I was excited about getting out again. I rode 15.09 miles at a quick average speed of 14.2 mph and a max speed of 25.7 mph. I burnt 704 calories in 1 hr 6 min and had an elevation gain of 823 feet. The temperature was 82 degrees f. with the wind out of the WSW at 6 to 12 mph. T he screen protector for the Garmin Edge works great to prevent glare, and I am extremly happy about that.

Major error in judgment

Image
T his morning I decided to reverse my training loop to maybe avoid the wind. Well this was a huge error as the opposite side of the road was in the worst condition possible. As far as the wind goes it was just as bad and just as unpredictable. I rode 16.16 miles a mile longer than yesterday do to a detour. My average speed was 13.60 mph and my max speed was 21.80 mph. I burnt 747 calories in 1 hr 11 minutes. The weather was a nice 75 degrees with a wind out of the West at 11 mph with much higher gusts. My elevation gain was 864'. M y next project before a new neck rest will be a seat cover which is washable. TW-Bents has one available, but it isn't available in the USA at this time.

Windy but needed workout

Y esterday I didn't get a chance to ride as I had an appointment with the Orthopedic Surgeon. All I found out is what I knew already that I need another MRI. That is scheduled for next Tuesday. I started out at 10:00 AM for my daily ride under beautiful skies and strong winds. The temperature was 71+ degrees and the wind was at 9 miles per hour from the WNW but much higher gusts were present. I rode 15.14 miles in 1hr 5 min and burnt 671 calories. My average speed was 13.84 mph and my max speed was 24.4 mph. I am hopping tomorrow will bring some calmer winds.

Broke my average speed today.

W ent out early for my daily ride and broke my own personal average speed record. I had an average speed of 14.0 mph and a max speed of 22 mph. I burnt 717 calories in 1 hr 11 min. The weather was a warm 70 degrees with at 11 mph wind from the NW. T he Garmin Edge 305 performed great and I had all my information at my fingertips. My average heart rate was around 155 bpm. I spoke to Garmin yesterday and they are sending me the missing bike mount. That is great service.

Garmin Edge 305 Test run

I received my Garmin Edge 305 today and set it up, but had a few problems caused by user error. The first error was not to press timer start, so the first mile was not logged. I realized my error and started the timer. According to the log data I rode 4.36 miles, but on the computer it was 5.76 miles. My average speed was 13.9 mph and my max speed was 22.4 mph. I burnt a meager 239 calories, but truly burnt 300 calories. I will try to be more careful next time. The weather for todays short ride was 82 degrees and the wind was WSW at 11 mph. So far I am impressed with the Edge, but will have to get more adapt at using it.

Another windy, windy day

I rode 15.59 miles in 1 hr 11 min and burnt 736 calories. My average speed was 13.04 mph with a max speed of 23.40 mph. The winds today were just horrible at 21 mph with higher gusts. No matter which way I turned the wind was in my face. my face is covered with fine sand and dirt and hurts when touched. The temperature was a perfect 70.6 degrees F. I wanted to continue riding but the winds made it painful, maybe tomorrow morning will be better. I received an email from Amazon telling me that my Garmin Edge 305 has been shipped, and when I checked it was in Jersey City, NJ. I would think it would be here tomorrow, but I doubt it. There is a chance it will be here Saturday. My Rode ID should be here on Saturday also, which would be nice.

Wind again for a change.

T his season the wind speeds have really increased from prior years, and I truly feel it. Today I rode 15.46 miles in 1 hr 8 min at an average speed of 13.48 mph and a max speed of 23.40 mph. I burnt 730 calories, which should help with me reaching my goal weight. The winds today were from the West at 20 mph with stronger gusts. The temperature was 72.5 degrees. I heard from Road ID that my new ID wrist strap was shipped this morning and I should have it in four or five days. The reason I bought a new one is that my old one has my home phone number which is useless since my wife works. I added my wifes cell phone as well as the home phone and my son and daughters phone numbers.

Wind can ruin a ride

I rode this morning to beat the heat and the forecast of rain, but ran into some very strong head winds. The winds were from the WNW at 20 mph making some of the hills murder to climb. I managed to ride 15.59 miles in 1 hr 11 min with an average speed of 13.09 mph and a max speed of 21.0 mph. I burnt 736 calories which I needed to burn after all the food I ate this past weekend. I am so looking forward to getting the new GPS so that I can have some accurate training results. But I will have to wait as Amazon has the slowest FREE shipping out there. It won't leave their warehouse until the 23rd. At least that is what their web page says.

Ride report and GPS ordered

T his morning I headed out a little early to beat the heat and the possible rain. I rode 17.40 miles in 1 hr 21 min and burnt 821 calories. My average speed was 12.77 and a max speed of 25.30 mph. The winds were very gusty at 12 mph from the WSW. The temperature was 84 degrees F. All in all a good ride. A lso this morning I used the Amazon Gift card I received from David and Kate and the cash I received from Jennifer and Evan for Father's day to pay for part of the Garmin Edge 305. I guess it will take over a week as I choose the free shipping from Amazon, which is slow as as snail. I will be looking forward to getting as it will be replacing my Adeo GPS that is failing for the second time. I do love the Adeo, but the failures and problems with firmware didn't help.

Ride Report

A t 10:00 AM I left for my daily ride under a bright cloudless sky. The temperature was 81.5 degrees with a wind out of the South at 10 mph. I rode for 1 hr and 11 min and burnt 738 calories. My average speed was 13.04 and a max speed of 23.0 mph. The wind at times was a real pain as it seemed to be coming down the hills keeping my speed down. I received a call yesterday afternoon from Sol telling me that he was on his way home. Hopefully he will be out riding soon.

Ride report and Sol's condition

I called Sol's wife early this morning to find out about Sol's condition. She explained to me that hw was kept over night for observation and received numerous stitches in his face and on his hands. The doctors set his finger and had him evaluated by a speech pathologist. He has no memories of the accident other than being in the ambulance. We are hoping he is released today. T his morning I started out on my ride at around 10:00 AM, planning to do at least 13 miles, but I ended with 15.63 miles. My average speed was 12.41 mph with a 21.10 max speed. i burnt 738 calories in 1 hr and 15 min. The temperature was 86 degrees with the wind out of the North at 12 mph.

Accident could have been worse

Image
T his morning I met Sol and Gus for a ride through Princeton, we all expected an nice leisurely ride of about 17 miles. After we were on a paved path in Princeton with Gus out front on his DF and Sol next on his DF followed by me. All of a sudden I see Sol flipping over his handlebars and the bike following and landing on him. I saw no reason for this to happen but it did. Sol was bleeding very badly from a gash on the side of his face, and his right hand little finger was bent back and broken. After further evaluation we saw he was hurt worse than we thought. He lost some teeth and has a concussion along with the gash and road rash. We called 911 and in less than five minutes help was there tending to his injuries. After getting him stable he was taken to the hospital where he remains until they give him the OK to go home. The ride was cut short at 10.00 miles as Gus and I wanted to get back to the starting point and go to the hospital which we did. The average speed was only 9 mph

Still in the frying pan

I left even earlier for my ride in order to beat the heat, but had no such luck. The temperature was 93.4 and the heat index made it feel like 97 degrees F. I rode 14.31 miles in 1 hr 9 min and burnt 676 calories. My average speed was 12.41 mph and my peak speed was 22.10 mph. The wind was from the SW at 13 mph making some portions of the ride very slow.

Hotter by the minute.

It doesn't matter how early I leave for my daily ride as it is hotter than hell. It was 96 degrees when I left for my ride and almost 100 degrees when I got back. I rode a measly 13.88 miles at an average speed of 12.08 which was hard keeping that speed. My max speed was 20.50 mph and I burnt 652 calories. As of today I am 1 pound shy of the weight I want to be. But I assume this is mostly loss of water rather than weight.

Hotter than Hell

L eft early this morning for my daily ride, and rode for 1 hour and 2 minutes and covered 13.30 miles. My average speed was 12.86 mph and my max speed was 23.50 mph. I burnt 628 calories, but it felt like 6000 calories were burnt. The temperature was 86 degrees and the wind was from the West at 7 to 17 mph. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, but it was still drizzling.

Out of the fire and into the frying pan!

S tarted out to ride late today and it was 96 degrees and the heat coming off the blacktop was horrendous. The wind was out of the west at 5-11 mph making things a little hard on the hills facing west. I rode 13.40 miles at an average speed of 12.33 mph and a max speed of 25.7 mph on the flats. Total length of ride was only 1 hr 5 minutes. I burnt a measly 632 calories, not enough to make up for what I will be eating tonight. Not a big deal as that is what I expect on a Saturday night.

Ride report

Image
B en and I left Cranbury at 9:30 for a 25.89 mile ride on mostly flat roads and some rolling hills. Our average speed was 10.06 and my max speed was 26.22 mph. I burnt 1,222 calories in 2hrs 34 minutes. The weather was cloudy and 79 degrees with the wind out of the South at 6-12 mph. We had a very relaxing ride and plan to do it again soon.

Nice leisure ride with friends

Image
T his morning at 10:00 I met two friends for a tour of four different towns. We rode 16.38 miles in 1hr 26 min with an average speed of 11.39 mph and a top speed of 25.70 mph. I burnt 773 calories and promptly ate two slices of pizza to replace the lost calories. At this rate I won't loose an ounce. The weather was a humid 71 degrees with the wind out of the NE at 8 mph. T he trike alarm came today and I will install it later and report about it.

Great but smelly ride

I started my ride at 11:00 AM do to the heat, and rode 14.59 miles in 1 hr 3 min at an average speed of 13.74 mph and a max speed of 24.8 mph. My average speed has increased again for the third day, which makes me feel real good. The weather was as follows: Temperature 80 degrees, wind from the SW at 10 mph. The weather does not look good for the next few days, but it changes quickly. Now for the bad part of the ride! My ride happened to coincide with the garbage pickup, and I was about five to ten minutes behind the truck. The results was an awful stench from the rotting garbage and liquids spilled when the garbage is compacted. I have to remember that for next Tuesday. Y esterday afternoon the Adeo Speakers came in the mail and I assembled a mount for it, which looks nice, but the speakers are half as loud as the I-Ride speakers, but I can still hear the Adeo under normal conditions. I will try to post a photo today or tomorrow.

Riding against the wind

L ately it seems like all I do is ride into the wind, and today was no different. I would love to have a day with no wind so I can actually see what my average speed would be. I rode 14.07 miles in 1hr and 3 minutes at an average speed of 13.24 and a max speed of 21.7 mph. The wind was out of the NW at 15 mph and the temperature was 73 degrees. I burnt 664 calories and I feel very good and the pain factor in low so far. The RavX pack is working out well as I now have a place for money, my phone and other goodies. The problem I was having with the Adeo Speakers has a temporary fix, but it is a pain to impliment, so a replacement is in order. I would love to get the Garmin Edge 305, so I am putting cash away toward it. Hopefully I don't need the cash for something unexpected. UPDATE: The speakers for the Adeo came today and I built a mount, but I won't know if they will be loud enough to make them practical.
