Fighting the wind as usual

I left at 8:45 Am for an early ride and to beat the heat. The wind was from the West at 15 mph and with much higher gusts. The temperature was already 81 degrees and climbing. I rode 15.15 miles in one hour and 4 minutes with an average speed of 14.2 and a max speed of 22.4. I burnt 741 calories and climbed 706 feet with an average heart rate of 146 bpm. Now that I am on the new medications I see muscle starting to form and my legs seem stronger. I am hoping to build back the muscle I lost and so far so good. I will know better after I have blood work done in early September.

Early Morning ride

Image
T his morning I started my ride early as I have things to take care of today. I rode 15.21 miles in one hour five minutes with an average speed of 14 mph and a max speed of 24.0 mph. I burnt 739 calories and my average heart rate was 144 bpm. The weather was a humid 80 degrees and the wind was from the NW at 15 mph. Y esterday I installed my custom seat cover which gives the trike a finished look. It also makes the seat a bit more comfortable.

First ride this week.

T his was my first day of riding after my Myelogram and not riding for a number of days took its toll. I rode 15.15 miles in one hour 7 minutes with an average speed of 13.5 mph and a max speed of 27.1 mph. I burnt 723 calories and climbed 691 feet. The weather was nice with a 6 mph wind from the SSW, and the temperature was 80 degrees f. I tried an little expirment of reducing the pressure in my front tires to see the result. I lowered the pressure to 65 pounds and noticed an enduced wobble which is not there at 72 to 75 pounds. Now I know where to keep the pressure.

Wall of wind

T oday I had a nice ride even with the strong head winds slowing me down. The temperature was 92 degrees with the wind out of the WNW at 15 mph with higher gusts. I rode 16.53 miles in one hour Thirteen minutes at an average speed of 13.5 mph and a max speed of 21.8 mph. I burnt 781 calories and my max heart rate was 134 bpm on an average. My elevation gain was 697 feet. For the next four days I will not be riding as I am going for a Myelogram tomorrow.

Recuperation ride!

T he day before yesterday I had a doctors appointment and he changed one of my medications, needless to say it caused a problem. It said to take once a day which I did, and it also it can cause drowsiness so I took it at night. Well to make a long story short it kept me awake the whole night. I called the doctor in the morning and he told me to take it in the mornings which I did today before my ride. I just hope I sleep tonight. I rode this morning and covered 15.27 miles in one hour and seven minutes and burnt 733 calories. I had an average speed of 13.8 mph and a max speed of 25.0 mph. I had a max heart rate of 146 bpm. The weather was 80 degrees with a SW wind at 15 mph. I will not be riding tomorrow as I have my granddaughters first birthday party.

Short ride today!

I had a doctors appointment today as was unable to eat as blood was going to be taken. I returned home and had breakfast and decided I would ride as soon as I was finished. I am not sure what happened, but I felt very weak and felt I shouldn't push it. I ended with 10.16 miles at an average speed of 14.1 mph and a top speed of 22.1 mph. I rode for 43 minutes and burnt 504 calories. The temperature was 84.9 degrees f. and the wind was from the East at 8 mph. This feeling never happened to me before and it was horrible feeling like this. I feel fine now, and guess it was the eating and riding within minutes.

Hot for early in the morning

S tarted out early to beat the heat, but it was still 89.6 degrees with a SW wind at 8-12 mph. I rode 16.18 miles in 1 hr 8min at an average speed of 14.2 mph and a max speed of 23.6 mph. My average heart rate was 141 bpm and I burnt 814 calories. Ny elevation gain was 736 feet.

Glorious day for a ride

T he weather this morning was calling for perfect riding conditions so right after breakfast I headed out. I rode 16.16 miles in 1hr 9 min and my average speed was 13.9 mph while my max speed was 23.2 mph. I burnt 766 calories and my average heart rate was 139 bpm. The weather was as follows: Temperature =86.2 degrees F. Wind Direction= West North West. Wind Speed=4-8 mph. My elevation gain for today was 798'. S o far the Garmin Edge 305 has lived up to expectation, it seems to be accurate and it aquires a signal real fast. I will continue to report on the Garmin and let you know if any problems arise.

Early ride

T his morning I was out by 9:30 for my ride as today was cleaning day. I rode 16.01 miles in 1 hr 7 min at an average speed of 14.14 mph and a max speed of 24.2 mph. I burnt 796 calories and my heart rate average was 145 bpm. The weather was 77 degrees with a wind out of the S at 12 mph. My elevation gain was 351 feet.

Very strong ground winds!

I checked the weather report for today and it said winds from the North at 11 mph. Well they must be measuring the winds from the top of a building or something as the winds down near the ground are much, much stronger. I never noticed this until last season and it seems to be more pronounced this year. I rode 17.05 miles in 1 hr 18 min at an average speed of 13.4 mph and a max speed of 23.2 mph. I burnt 808 calories and my average heart rate was 133 bpm. My elevation gain was 724 feet. The ride was uneventful but still a nice ride. The temperature was 76 degrees and the wind was from the North.

Another windy day in the neighborhood!

I started out early to beat the heat which was a good thing. The traffic has been light making riding more fun. The winds were again strong out of the North at 11 mph with stronger gusts. The temperature was 75 degrees a great riding temperature. I rode for 1 hr 8 min at an average speed of 14.0 mph and a max speed of 22.2 mph. My average heart rate was 144 bpm and I burnt 755 calories, My total elevation gain was 1,052'. T his afternoon I will be calling to order another pair of shorts as doing the wash every day is a pain plus a waste of power.

Exhausting ride

I started out for my daily ride with a smile on my face, and returned out of breath and my face beet red. The headwinds were 21-25 mph on all the climbs. The 743' elevation gain fighting the wind made this ride really a challenge. I rode 16.23 miles in 1 hr 14 min at an average speed of 13.1 mph and a max speed on the flats of 27.2 mph. I burnt 757 calories and I truly worked at it. The weather was a humid 92 degrees and it sure felt like it. A fter I returned from my ride I changed the seat pad back to the open cell foam pad as my boney rear was killing me. The Ventist pad might be a drop cooler, but the pain I couldn't tolerate.

Ride report and weekly maintenance.

T his morning I had planed to ride early but the weather was gloomy and rain was expected. So I made good use of the time and performed some trike maintenance such as checking the alignment. I also changed the seat foam to my Air Flow seat pad and did my afternoon ride with it. I I also adjusted the neck rest position farther back so it wouldn't press as hard on my neck. I left after lunch for my ride and rode 14.07 miles in 1 hr 1min and burnt 660 calories. My average speed was 13.6 mph and my max speed was 20.4 mph. The temperature was 87 degrees with the wind out of the SW at 8-10 mph.

Ride report and Garmin update

I took my ride early today and rode for 1 hr 8 min at an average speed of 13.2 mph and a max speed of 24.4. I burnt 704 calories but it was a very hard ride. The wind was from the SW at 21 mph with gusts up to 26 mph. The temperature was a blistering 92 degrees and my average heart rate was 142 bpm. My total elevation gain today was 872'. T he Garmin problems seems to be user error. I must have pressed the start timer button before I turned it off, so the Garmin thought it was a multi day ride. All is corrected now.

Garmin Edge 305 Error and Ride report

I started out at 12:15 PM to meet Bob for a lunch and my daily ride. We rode the South Middlebush Road Loop. My average speed was 13.8 mph and my max speed was 25.8 mph. I burnt 742 calories and my average heart rate was 152 bpm. The temperature was 89 degrees with the wind out of the West at 7-14 mph. We had lunch at the Brunswick Pizza Grill in North Brunswick, and sat around just talking. A fter I got home I attached my Edge to the computer and uploaded the workout. I noticed that the date was wrong. It showed that I started my workout at 12:15 yesterday and finished 2:15 today. Either there is something wrong with the Garmin or I accidentally pressed the lap button yesterday when changing settings on the GPS. I called Garmin and they had no idea what could be wrong. I have backed up all my data and deleted the history off the device.
