Test ride after Epidural Injection

Image
Y esterday I had my first lower back Epidural injection to treat my chronic pain. I decided to go out for just a quick test ride to see if riding added to my pain. I so far am elated that riding made my back feel better not worse. I kept the ride short just to be sure I don't inflame the injection area. I am looking forward to getting out on the trike for longer rides. I rode only 3.30 mil;es at a average speed of10.94 mph and a top speed of 15.4 mph. I burnt 156 calories, not enough, but it will have to do.

Dual ride report

T his morning I loaded the trike into my SUV to go on a short group ride starting at 10:00 AM. We rode 10.81 miles with an average speed of 10.84 mph and a top speed of 15.2 mph. The weather in East Windsor was 70 degrees with the wind out of the SE at 6 mph. I burnt 510 calories. After the ride we had brunch and I headed back to my local area for another short ride. On the second ride I rode 10.65 miles with an average speed of 12.08 and a max speed of 27.2 mph which I maintained on the flats for 4 minutes. I burnt 503 calories on the second ride. The temperature was 75 degrees with the wind out of the SSE at 9 mph. All in all I rode 21.46 miles burning 1,013 calories.

Ride report

I left for my daily ride at around 12:15 and rode 13.42 miles. During the ride my average speed was 12.54 ,ph and my max speed was 23.60 mph. I burnt 633 calories on this nice leisurely ride. The temperature was 78 degrees with the wind out of the North at a brisk 15 mph. I was hoping that I would increase my average speed, but the wind has been relentless. Tomorrow I am going on a real short group ride maybe 10 or 12 miles.

Expensive Ride

I went out at 11:30 Am for my daily ride, and everything was going well until I noticed that my cell phone was not in my pocket. I immediately turned around to retrace my route, and rode back about two miles until I found the phone. A lot of good that did as my phone was rode over by a car or truck. It no longer worked so I was not in the mood to continue my ride as without a phone I would not feel secure on these country roads. I rode 9.76 miles with an average speed of 11.80 mph and a top speed of 22.3 mph. The weather was great with a temperature of 73 degrees with a wind out of the N at 6 mph. I hope I get my new phone tomorrow morning so I can ride in the afternoon. W hen I got home I rode over to Verizon Wireless to replace my phone, but was unable to as I had to call the insurance company that I have protection on the phone with. I had to pay a $50.00 deductible for a phone replacement. It is shipped out DHL so tomorrow I will have the new phone. T his morning I did some rou

Another windy day

W ith all the days we have here in central New Jersey one would think this was the Great Plains. I left my house after having another zero fat low calorie meal of Yogurt. I am getting sick of the stuff. I rode 13.42 miles under a beautiful sunny sky but the winds were again very strong. The wind was out of the SE at 17 mph, not as bad as yesterday, but still made ridding hard. The temperature was a nice 67 degrees. I burnt 633 calories on todays ride, I am hoping that by riding every day I will loose some of my winter weight in a few weeks. Tomorrow the weather calls for rain, but they haven't been very accurate lately.

Battling Mother Nature

A fter I had my Yogurt for lunch I changed into my riding gear to head out for my daily ride. With the intention of a easy ride at a leisurely pace, I was in great spirits. When i left the house it was a little overcast, but the sun was peeking through the clouds. As I rode the winds started to increase and the temperature started to drop. The next thing I knew I was battling a constant 26 mph head wind, making riding a nightmare. I said to my self "that I wouldn't give up and continue the ride". I managed to complete one loop which is a total of 13.25 miles. My average speed was 10.71 which I felt was great while having to deal with the wind. My maximum speed was 20.0 mph. The temperature was on average 59 degrees. I burnt 626 calories which was according to the Adeo GPS but that doesn't take into account the force of the wind just the speed. I am hoping that tomorrow brings better weather, so I can get back into my summer shape.

Another day in the life of a triker

Image
T his morning after eating a simple high fiber breakfast I headed out to halters cycles to buy a pair of Shimano SH-M182 SPD shoes. While there he mounted my Speedplay Frog pedals and adjusted the position of the cleats. I gave them a quick test in the huge parking lot, and he then made the final adjustment. On my first ride today I had to play with the front two straps as it felt tight around my instep, but once adjusted they were fine. I do love the ratchet strap adjustment on the top most strap. The least expensive I could find these shoes for was $159.00 and they charged me $107.00, I got a great deal! A fter getting back home with the trike and the shoes, I unloaded the trike and went out to meet the wife for a quick lunch. After lunch I headed home and got my gear ready for my daily ride. I had a little bit of apprehension regarding the cramps I had yesterday and was still feeling today. I rode 13.27 miles at an average speed of 12.08 mph and a top speed of 22.3 Mph. I bur

Tempting the Gods & ride report

Y esterday I decided I would go out and ride even knowing that my last tube was mounted on my severely damaged Primo Comet Kevlar tire. The inside had edges of the Kevlar pushing through the inside carcass. I started out by saying to myself "I won't go far, I will stay near home". Well after riding a few miles and the Adrenalin was pumping, I thought I saw a recumbent rider I knew far ahead of me. I started pushing to catch up, and as I came to the top of the next hill I saw him turn off onto the bike path. I said "I can catch up and we could shoot the breeze for a while". Well that didn't work out as he turned off on to one of the most heavily traveled roads in the area. And it was loaded with trucks and cars so it was hard to catch up. After a few minutes I realized I was a long way from home and I had this bad tire, so I started back. When I reached home I saw that I had not only went out with a real bad tire, I hadn't put my flag on the trike. I wond

First Ride of the season

W ell it was 12:00 PM when I decided that today would be my first ride of the season. I was very concerned as my lower back was giving me a lot of pain, and I just received an OK from the doctors regarding my medications and me riding again. I didn't want to push my luck so I figured I would take it a little easy at first. I had no leg pain or back pain at all and rode 10.8 miles at an average speed of 10.43 mph and a top speed of 24.5 mph. The weather was great with a temperature of 74 degrees and a wind of 10 mph from the NW. I not expecting to ride tomorrow as rain is expected. Great to be back riding again.
