Excellent day in the neighborhood!

S tarted out at 11:00 AM for a run through Kendall Park and South Middlebush Road which is my local route. I rode for 1hour 10minutes and 32seconds and covered 15.33 miles. My average speed was 13.04 mph with a max speed of 25.10 mph. I burnt 742 calories and feel great. I love to ride because under normal circumstances my back feels great and the pain stays away for a while. The weather conditions were as follows: Wind Direction: South Wind Speed: 7 Mph Temperature: 88 degrees . Not sure about riding tomorrow, but I sure am going to do my best to get out and ride.

Local Ride Report.

T oday I rode my local loop and planned on only ten miles, but did 13.28 with and an average speed of 13.28 and a max speed of 23.20 mph. I burnt 643 calories in one hour and eleven seconds. Today was the first time in months that I have obtained my desired weight, it is cause for celebration. Y esterdays post I spoke about my new feline Dylan a Desert Lynx which I said he was 9 weeks old, which he is. A few people questioned me regarding this, but facts are facts. He can grow to 25 lbs at one year old. After that I don't think they get any bigger.

Local low impact workout

S tarted riding at 12:00 Pm today and rode 13.32 miles and burnt 645 calories. The ride was low impact at an average speed of 12.20 and a max speed of 23.40 mph. I rode for 1hour 5minutes and 40seconds. The weather was nice with a temperature of 85 degrees with a constant wind of 12 mph. O ur new 9 month Desert Lynx is doing very well and adjusting to his new home. He is very lovable and loves attention. Very playful and makes us all laugh a huge amount.

Ride report and new addition to my family!

I rode today for 58:14 minutes and covered 12.54 miles and burnt 607 calories. The weather was a nice 82 degrees with winds out of the ENE at 6-12 mph. My average speed was 12.95 and my max speed was 22.20 mph. S aturday we added a new addition to the family, we adopted a 9 week old kitten. His breed is Desert Lynx which grow to 25 pounds. He is cute and very playful. A Desert Lynx is a cross between a Bob Cat and a Domestic.

Good but windy ride

T oday has been my first ride in days do to extremely bad weather, it did nothing but rain for days. I rode 15.04 miles in 1hr9min44sec and burnt 728 calories. The wind was very strong at 15+ miles per hour. The temperature was a humid 90 degrees. My average speed was 12.95 mph with a max speed of 27.10 mph. I am hopping to have some more nice days next week in order to ride.

Broke my own speed record on the flats.

T his morning I got a jump on the heat by starting my ride earlyand I rode 21.12 miles in one hour 35 minutes and 47 seconds. I rode my usual South Middlebush Road loop two times and sprinted on the flats. Today my top record speed on a flat rode was 29.20 mph. My average speed was 13.24 mph and I burnt 1023 calories. The weather temperature was 89 degrees with winds from the WSW at 8-20 mph. I would love to try the sprint on a day without wind, but I haven't had a day like that. Y esterday I did a very stupid thing! My lower back was acting up so in my ultimate wisdom I decided to take my pain medication directly before I was going out to ride. What a huge error that was. Lucky for me Alayne called and while I was talking to her I just fogged out. She made a remark to me which made me realize that it would be stuppid to ride in this condition. So Icalled off the ride, which was the smartest thing to do.

Very strong winds but a satisfying ride!

A t 12:00 I started my ride from home and rode 17.02 miles before I was forced to return because of a nasty rash. I have never had a groin rash before, and it is painful and itchy, I am not sure if it is just heat rash or a fungus rash like jock itch. I am using an anti-fungus cream and hope it gets better soon. I always use powder when I ride, so I was surprised I have it. My average speed on this ride was 12.50 mph and a top speed of 21.10, I felt like I was riding in mud because the strong winds on my up hills slowed me down a huge amount. The gusts were higher than 23 mph and the temperature was 92 degrees. Total length of this ride was one hour and twenty one minutes, and I burnt 824 calories, that evens out the Peanut and Jelly sandwich I had for lunch. Y esterday I ordered a set of helmet speakers which I would like to try out, I think if they work it would save me the pain of recharging batteries. I will post my results.

Todays Ride Report

A t 2:00 PM I started my daily ride and in one hour thirty three minutes I rode 20.34 miles and burnt 985 calories. The weather was a very nice 89 degrees with winds form the NNE at 6-10 mph. My average speed was 13.09 mph while my max speed was 23.20 mph. I took a slightly different route to avoid the newly patched road that gave me so much problems the other day. I guess in a few days all the loose chipseal will be gone and I can reuse the road.

Heat and Strong Winds

I left my house at 11:30 after coming back from the eye doctor to start my ride. It was a big mistake as my eyes were still dilated and I had blurry vision from time to time. By the time I realized that it was really not to good an idea I was on my way home. I rode 13.22 miles and burnt 640 calories. My average speed was 11.69 do to strong winds and poor road conditions. My max speed was 23.30 mph, and total ride time was one hour eight minutes and one second. The wind was from the East at 6-14 mph with gusts exceeding 25 mph. The temperature was 88 degrees, wich wasn't that bad, but the humidity was high. One of the roads I use daily for my ride was being patched today with dry patch which caused riding to be very slow and making for a poor road surface. I think the patching made the road conditions piss poor, and the patch was sticking to my tires and it made them feel rough even after leaving the road. I had to clean off the chips on the tires before proceeding on.

Hot! Hot! Hot! & Windy

W e had another power failure at 2:30 AM and ended 11:30 AM which meant another late start for my ride. I was able to get out on the road at 12:00 PM and rode for one hour twenty four minutes and twenty eight seconds, and completed 16.54 miles. During this ride I fought the strong winds of 11 mph with gusts exceeding 23 mph, made this ride a real killer. The temperature of 96 degrees didn't help either, but I really need the exercise, if I want to keep the weight off and my pain level at a reasonable amount. The less I ride the more pain I am in. I burnt 801 calories and my average speed was 11.76 and my max speed was 25.90 mph. There were times that I couldn't break the 10 mph ceiling because of the wind, it felt like I was riding on three flat tires, what a drag! I seem to be having some sound problems with my cable setup on the trike, so I am going to use some contact cleaner and try again tomorrow. What makes me think it is a dirty contact is that if I jiggle the wires it

Slow as you go!

T oday I was hopping to start my ride early this morning, but the power gods turned off the power at 5:45 AM so I was unable to open the garage door. I tried the emergency release, but it was above my wifes car and just out of my reach. The power returned at 12:00 PM and I started riding soon after. I rode for 1 hour two minutes and 54 seconds and covered 13.28 miles at an average speed of 12.68 miles per hour and a top speed of 25.30. I was planning to ride twenty miles today, but the late start and the high temperatures prevented this. I was able to burn 643 calories, which was not my goal today. Yesterday was a wash out do to thunder storms. The temperature at the start of my ride was 91 degrees and 95 at the end. The winds were out of the SW at 4 mph which isn't bad at all so I have no complaints.

Hot! Hot! Hot!

E arly on today I decided that when I go out to ride this afternoon in would be a low impact ride, do to the really hot weather and the pollution in the air. At 12:00 I got out to ride and completed 15.29 miles in 1 hour 18 minutes and 21 seconds. I burnt 740 calories and the weather was extreme to say the least. The temperature was 94 and the humidity was 46%. The winds were a constant 8 mph coming from the SW. I am not very sure if I will get out to ride tomorrow, but I will try. Sunday will not be a riding day as my schedule is full.

I had a real workout today!

Image
Uploaded the .gpx file to www.bikely.com T his morning I joined a ride with a group of riders that I have only rode with one rider. There was another recumbent in the group, and I found out at the start that they are fast riders. The total ride was 23.81 grueling miles with some steep hills and a few fantastic down hill runs. I managed to keep up with these riders, but my friend pulled out and called for someone to pick him up. I agree that he did the correct thing, and I doubt he will attempt riding with them for a while. With all the hills my average speed was 11.92 mph and my max speed on the down hill was 31.50 mph, and the trike was extremely stable and I could have exceeded 40 if I had let go of the brakes. The temperature was in the 90's and the time I reached home it was 97 degrees with a wind from the NE at 5 mph. During the ride I burnt 1153 calories, and I weighed myself and I was down to 153.5 pounds, which is 1/2 lb more than my target weight. I know that it was water

Slow as I go!

T his morning I was very tempted to stay in bed all day as I didn't sleep well again. I am getting very fed up with not sleeping well. I pushed my self out the door for my afternoon ride and managed to push in 16.25 miles before I called it a day. I burnt 787 calories in 1hr 19min 13 seconds with an average speed of 12.20 and a max speed of 21.40 mph. The weather was a hot and humid 93 degrees with wind from the NE at 5-13mph. Tomorrow I have a group ride starting at 8:00 AM, and I am hopping I feel better by then.
